Graduate Diploma in Christian Studies (GDCS)

This programme can be completed as a wholly evening study programme or as a part-or full-time day programme in online class session or physical classes.

The diploma will be earned after completion of 32 credit hours of courses.

Each subjects will requires 7-8 weeks (14-16 sessions) of study. The academic year is divided into two regular semesters (June to December and January to April) and intensive study of 2 weeks. Applicable also for BTh and MDiv.

 

Programme Purpose

The programme is designed to equip students with a firm foundation for studying the Scriptures and developing spiritually.  The programme also serves as an introduction to structured theological education for students who aspire to pursue their further education for faithful and effective Christian service.

Duration of Study

The GDCS program takes four semesters (2Years) to complete. Students attending irregular classes will need about three to four years to complete the course.

General Requirements

  • Christian Experience

The applicant must be a professed follower of Jesus and  a baptized member in good standing with his or her church. He or she must have been an active serving member of the church for at least 2 years.

  • Language Proficiency

The applicant must be proficient in English (writing formal paper) and confident in communicating with the professors and others.

Upgrading to Bachelor of Theology (BTH)

  • Graduate Diploma students may upgrade to a Bachelor of Theology program.
  • Upgrading can be done after two years of study or upon graduation in the diploma programme. Those wanting to upgrade must not have graduated from the diploma programme for more than 5 years.
  • Diploma graduates must have a cummulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.7 to quality for the shortened BTh programme. Students who have a lower GPA  may apply but will have only courses with a B-grade and above waived.
  • The minimum age for BTh students is 22 years old.

Admission Requirements

  • The graduate diploma is open to degree holders/High School graduates.
  • Non-Filipino may apply to join this programme of study but STCGL will not apply for visas for them.
  • Local and International students must submit their application by 1st March for June enrolment and 1st October for January enrolment.
